Wouldn’t you like to commemorate your graduate’s High School Achievements with a Senior Portrait Session? Each Session includes a sitting with up to 3 wardrobe changes for $250. I am happy to have the entire family join for a time to get a full family portrait as well. This comes with a web gallery that will host all of the edited images for 30 days, along with 3 digital downloads for prints up to 5x7 and a $50 print credit. The $250 is due at the time that we set the appointment. This beautiful weather gives us a great opportunity to use many outdoor locations that we typically would not be able to use this time of the year.

This program also offers your senior a chance to do additional "mini" session (no wardrobe changes) any time during our Senior Sundays for just $50.

It has already been an exciting year with Laura Legg Photography going in many directions. The first, and most important change for all of my clients, is a new web site. The new site will be up and running by Feb 11. The site will be clean and sleek and offer much better ways to communicate and streamline the ordering process. I plan on having great customer service with the help of the new site technology and a new customer service manager on staff!

The important part for all of you to know is that the old site, hosted by smugmug, will be going away. Because I host over 27,000 images on that site, it is logistically impossible for me to insure that I have every image backed up and cataloged.

I cannot guarantee that your images will continue to be held for you.

Coordinating the family photo shoot

I get the question, "What should we wear?" a lot. Here a few examples that worked out perfectly. These families chose to work with blues and grays

, adding in some white or off-white and in one case a pink that coordinated with dad's shirt that had a pink stripe. Congrats to all of my best coordinated!

This year has flown by and now I find that the time for holiday portraits is getting thin. To help coordinate schedules, I have made a public calendar for sittings available. I happened to see the Nate show today and was so inspired by the Dallas girls who were the ENTIRE show!! Their non-profit is Dwell with Dignity. I think it is a fabulous cause and interiors have always been a passion of mine. I recommend the site, particularly if you can donate or volunteer.

This got me to looking at other interior web sites for additional inspiration and I came to Houzz.com. And I loved this "ideabook" that had been put together about displaying photos. A lot of possibilities! I'd love to work with you on how to make some of these just right for you!

It was amazing to see how happy the children are and how loving the parents, volunteers and staff are. The clearly work with a lot of unconditional love, patience and understanding. Me, that is, as I photographed Nolan Ryan for a Black-eyed Pea event introducing Mr. Ryan's line of all natural beef products. There was extra excitement since he just won the bidding war against Mark Cuban, Mavericks owner, for the Rangers Baseball team. I had so much fun and my images will be around town. I have not been able to keep up with my blog for a while since I have started a new focus. Many people have questioned what I am doing, so here it is. I am working at Baylor Hospital for a company that is contracted to photograph all of the babies born there. I first took it as a job that would just give me a little extra cash but it has become something that I spend a lot of time on and I'm really enjoying it. They have changed from the old "mug shots" and now make it a real portrait session. You can see some of my work (along with the others that I work with and help train).

OK, so I have to admit I am so proud of my son. He just played his very first soccer game. It happened to be against a team that has been together more than 3 seasons, so the score was very lop-sided (I think we all quit counting at about 8 to 0). Dete still got in there and gave it all he had. It was fun to see how much confidence he got just from the beginning to half time. I was so glad that he finally got to play and he was clearly loving every minute of it. I was lucky enough to have another opportunity to take pictures for a wonderful family that happened to be just my style. Their 18 month old son, Hardison, is cute as could be and his parents were ideal as well. We played in Austin and I did the ideal photo shoot for me. This one may be a little dramatic for their taste, we'll see, but this is the kind of photography I enjoy most - dramatic arty with interest enough to have as a large piece of art in anyone's home. Well between tending to kids, the house, friends and all of their kids and kids chaos, Ihave hardly been able to tend to business. With promotions and finishing up on past sessions, then working on new sessions I can't seem to find ANY time to blog. I am taking a quick break now to update. A friend mentioned that she needed a gift for her mother-in-law. I looked back at my personal images that I haven't had a chance to process and came up with these two. The Austin Children’s Museum will host its first evening fundraiser, “Imaginarium,” May 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the historic Browning hangar at Mueller.

Austin, Texas (April 20, 2009) — The Austin Children’s Museum will host its first evening fundraiser, “Imaginarium,” May 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the historic Browning hangar at Mueller. Mueller has been selected as the future home for the Museum, and planning is already underway with construction expected to begin in 2010.

The Imaginarium gala promises to be one of the year’s most exciting events with a vintage carnival theme that includes entertainment by the Blue Lapis Light Aerial Dance Company. Their performance from the ceiling of the Browning hangar is not to be missed! Also performing will be the Sangre del Sol fire dancers, stilt walkers, fortune tellers, face painters, jugglers, clowns, carnival games, and more.

The evening gala is a new format for the Museum, which has hosted a luncheon for the past twelve years. Laura Loudamy and Katherine Wallin are the event co-chairs.

In order to raise funds for the Museum’s ongoing and future projects, there will be an auction with over 100 unique offerings that includes a children’s hand-crafted playhouse, a Baja vacation, a tasting for twelve in one of Twin Liquors’ private wine rooms, a private movie showing and dinner for 25 from Alamo Drafthouse.

Sally and Sabrina

Today I was lucky enough to play with Sally and Sabrina. I was told that one was typically the cooperative one and the other may be a challenge. Well, not unusual for kids, nor for siblings, they reversed roles. Regardless, we had fun and I enjoyed the whole family. We played with some colorful "umbrellas," as the girls called them. I am proud to support the 2009 Pot of Gold Luncheon that was today to benefit Rainbow Days. Its purpose is to give children hope for a promising future by providing the skills and support they need to make healthy choices, stay drug-free, stay in school and believe they have a purpose. I think it is a very worthy cause and hoped to go to this luncheon that is co-chaired by Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert. I was busy instead celebrating Leigh and Brad's twins that were born last night. I had to bite my tonge to keep from spilling the beans to Hayes, the now big brother. I am very excited for them and thankful that everyone is healthy and happy. Pics to come.

The impossible portrait

I recently taught a group of mom's how to take better pictures of their children. There was one mom there who had a very nice up-to-date camera and was very eager to learn. So today I helped them with a fundraiser by doing mini-sessions for group members that benefited their PTA. Long story short, this girl is first for the day. I was surprised since it seemed that she would likely get her own pictures of her kids. Adorable family, two precious boys. Precious boys that did NOT want their picture taken, not by me, not by her, not by ANYONE. Well I love a challenge and thought for sure that I had at least one thing in my bag of tricks that would work. - NO, he knew all of my games and refused to give me that perfect portrait. None the less I tried, and candids are more my thing anyway. Well, if I could just get him to be still, no, not run and stay in a position long enough for me to get my equipment ready we would be good. Here are the comical attempts...

In this one he is NOT crying, but doing what he does when his mother points the camera at him - closes his eyes!

So, for a busy mini session, this is what I came up with. While it might not win awards, I have to say that I am happy that I achieved the impossible. I hope they are happy as well. Thanks Millers!

Life is too short

I have just learned that one of my son's friends has lost their dad. I am so saddened, my heart just breaks for the sweet family. I hate that death is a part of life, particularly when it comes too soon. This is such a crazy time with all of the worries on money and change, I guess we all need to stop and take the time to cherish the lives around us. My thoughts and prayers are with them, their family and friends.

I spent the weekend getting my father started on his own blog. He builds and restores classic cars. His latest projects are a 1965 Shelby Cobra replica that he built from scratch (technically a kit, but there wasn't much to that), and a 1936 Ford V8 Pickup truck. I was lucky enough to be asked to take the Romney's family portrait while all of the kids and spouses were in town for the holidays. We had so much fun, and I was blown away at what a cute, fun-loving family they are. Six kids and not a bad one in the bunch. Congrats to Mrs. and Mr. Romney for raising such wonderful kids.
